In 1339 Emperor Godaigo passed away. In order to hold a memorial service for him, Shogun Ashikaga Takauji started to change Kameyama house into a Zen temple. However, he didn’t have enough money to construct this temple, so he started trading with The Yuan dynasty and earned money. Since the ship named Tenryu-ji-sen was used while trading, this temple was named after that ship. Even though Takauji and Emperor Godaigo had been hostile each other before his death, Takauji hold a memorial service for him following virtue of Samurai. Sougenchi garden in it is a pond-strolling garden that you can walk around the pond. This garden that was created by the Monseigneur Muso Soseki is famous for borrowed scenery. It is made in front of beautiful mountains so that looks even more beautiful.
