  3. Kamigamo-jinja


Kamigamo-jinja Shrine whose shrine’s official name is Kamowakeikazuchi-jinja Shine and it is one of the oldest and historical shrine in Kyoto. It was established in 678, the era of Emperor Tenmu. A deity that has the power to keep the evil things away is enshrined. The biggest event held in this shrine is the Aoi-Matsuri Festival (one of three main festivals held in Kyoto) which is held on the 15th of May. People walk all the way from the Kyoto imperial palace to this temple dressed up in the traditional Japanese costumes.
